Happy Lunar New Year Everyone!

On the iPad it’s the opening ceremony of live lunar new year party presented by CCTV.

sugar calabash（冰糖葫芦）: Have a “red” (jubilant) and “round” (gathered with family) year.

fried fish（煎鱼）: “Fish” in Chinese have the same pronunciation as “remain”. We usually cook fish for new year eve, but we won’t eat all of them, we will remain some of them overnight, indicating that “we won’t be short of anything every year”.

dumplings（饺子）: It’s a traditional food that most Chinese eats for new years.

Those foods that are not originally from my menu are foods from my neighbor. She’s my mom’s friend, and she’s afraid that I don’t have good foods for new year eve, so she sent me some of her New Year Eve’s dinner (年夜饭）

We need to get up early on New Year’s day indicating having a good start for the year.
